Our distance learning courses are a combination of self learning and instructor mentoring sessions. We will send out by email the week before your course start date all you need to complete your course including the following:
Learner Registration Form
Learner Resources Sheet (which includes- website links, PowerPoint slides and You Tube links)
Qualification Guidance
You and your instructor will agree on time frames for each set of modules to be completed and schedule in your weekly mentoring 1:1’s so these fit around your workload.
This distance learning course that is suitable for anyone aged 14 years and over. When booking please select the month you would like to start your course and one of our instructors will be in contact to arrange your start date.
Course content:
- What is mental health
- Stigmas around mental health
- Factors affecting mental health
- Understanding the role of First Aider for mental health
- Giving advice and contacting emergency services
- Identifying and managing stress
- Identify signs of: Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis, Eating disorders, suicide and Self-harm
Learning outcomes:
- Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of the First Aider for mental health
- Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition
- Know how to recognise and manage stress
- Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions
3 year certificate will be issued shortly after the course
